MICHAEL ANTHONY HILL

MICHAEL ANTHONY HILL, 62, of Holstein, Iowa passed away Sunday, August 21, 2011 at Cherokee Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 25th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Schaller United Methodist Church in Schaller, Iowa Pastor Jessica Rockhold Gaul will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the church. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. On line condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com.

Michael was born May 24, 1949 at Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Oral and Jeanette (Guenther) Hill. He attended I. C. School in Cherokee, also school in Sioux Falls, S.D. and graduated from Washington High School in Cherokee in 1967. He attended many different courses at Western Iowa Tech. He was married to Connie Foley in February of 1970 at Quimby, Iowa. After spending 19 years with his best friend, he was married to Paula Bubke on July 24, 2010. He had worked at various professions. He worked at a Standard Station in Cherokee, at Simonsen's in Quimby, Iowa, drove school bus for Quimby Schools, owned and operated the Standard Oil Gas Station and Tank Wagon in Quimby, Co-Owned the Mini-Mart with Phil Wright in Quimby, and had worked at VT Industries for 27 1/2 years, retiring in November of 2010 due to health reasons. He was raised in the Catholic Church and later affiliated with the United Methodist Church. He had made his home in Holstein for the last 18 years. He was a former member of the Quimby Fire Dept., member of the Correctionville and Quimby Golf Courses, pool leagues and bowling leagues. He enjoyed flying and crashing RC airplanes, was a dedicated St. Louis Rams fan, loved playing golf, pool, darts, bowling, computer games, drag racing, working on cars and going to car shows He put together models, did woodworking, renovation of houses, drawing, yard work, traveling, telling stories and listening to Elvis music. He also communicated on Facebook. He loved spending time with his family and friends and especially being around his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents Art and Laura Hill, John and Gladys Guenther, a granddaughter Faith Hill, his father and mother in law Wesley & Evaline Rhoads and a sister-in-law Patricia Hill.

He is survived by his wife, Paula, and three children; Carrie Hill and her special friend Brian Miller of Quimby and their daughters Shelbee and Sheyanne; Kevin Hill and his wife Stephanie of Quimby and their children Austin, Brayan and Samantha; Josh Hill and his wife Torrie of Cherokee and their sons Mason and Ashton; stepchildren: Heather Bubke of Des Moines, Iowa; Neil Bubke of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Michelle Horton and her husband Chris of Cherokee and their sons Dakota and Chase; his brothers and sisters: Juanita Schmitz and her husband Ronnie of Oshkosh, WI; John Hill and special friend Stephany Hughes of Excelsior Springs, MO; Patrick Hill and his wife Pamela of Paullina, Iowa; Mary Jordan and her husband Jim of Renton, WA; Lisa Stoner and her husband Paul of Peterson, Iowa; many nieces and nephews; his aunt Mary Kathryn Guenther of Sinsinawa, WI; his uncle Dale Hill and his wife Marlene of Rochester, MN; special in-laws Verdeen and Darlene Luft of Schaller, Iowa.
