LAVONNE SADLER

LaVonne Sadler, 89, of Hartley, Iowa, formerly of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Tuesday evening, March 20, 2012 at Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 24th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Magrey de Vega will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home on Saturday. Visitation will be on Friday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home with the family present from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. On line condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com

LaVonne was born March 7, 1923 on a farm near Washta, Iowa to Ralph and Stella (Anderson) Robeson. She grew up with five brothers and one sister. She attended and graduated from Grand Meadow School in 1941. She was married to Howard Sadler on August 22, 1941 in Cherokee, Iowa. LaVonne worked side by side with her husband on the farm along with being a housewife and mother. She also operated a customer poultry business. LaVonne did not retire until age 80. She had lived on farms east of Washta and in Grand Meadow Township for 57 years, moving to Cherokee in 1981. She resided in Alta for a 1 ½ years and at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley for 4 1/2 years. She belonged to a hobby club, card club and neighbor club. LaVonne enjoyed golf, camping at Okoboji in the summer, snowmobiling, flowers, baking, family and friends. She took great pride in their home, decorating for the season, greeting guests with a cup of coffee at any time and making people happy. She also loved music, dancing with Howard, having a good laugh and attending their children’s and grandchildren’s events through the years. LaVonne’s personal motto was to “ Laugh, Live and Love.” She was always sending cards and clippings to family and friends during happy times and in times of need. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist in Cherokee.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Howard on June 26, 2010, brothers Harold, Byron, Boyd & Marlin and a sister Lola.

She is survived her children; Ronny (Sharon) Sadler of Spirit Lake, Iowa; Konny (Nick) Droegmiller of Alta, Iowa; Bonny (Duane) Wittkop of Tonganoxie, Kansas; Donny (Denise) Sadler of Hartley, Iowa; 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren; brothers: Keith (Jan) Robeson of Ryderwood, Washington; several nieces and nephews.
