BETTY E. FELL

BETTY E. FELL, 90, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and former longtime Quimby, Iowa resident, passed away Wednesday morning, April 11, 2012 at the Heritage Nursing Home in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 16th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Carolyn Hollar will officiate. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home on Monday. Burial will be in the Quimby Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, April 15th, from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. with the family present from 3-4 p.m. at the funeral home and family present on Monday morning from 9 a.m. until service time. Betty was born on May 2, 1921 to John & Jeanette (Koolbeck) Hodgdon at Paullina, Iowa. She attended school in Quimby and graduated in 1941. She was united in marriage to Joe M. Fell on June 8, 1941 at Cherokee, Iowa. She worked as a clerk at Tots & Teens and Wolf’s Clothing in Cherokee and was a farm wife. Betty was a member of Quimby Methodist Church and Rebekah Lodge. She enjoyed gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joe on May 16, 1996 and brothers-in-law Dean White & Harold Baldwin.

Betty is survived by her daughter: Bette Jo Haight and her husband Tom Wendel of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 3 grandchildren: Debra (Richard) Apodaca; Steven K. (Pam) Haight; Mark A. (Jeannie) Haight; 9 great grandchildren: Andrew & Alexa Apodaca; Brian, Trevor, Christian & Denver Haight; Brooks, Brittanie & Jenni Haight; 3 great-great grandchildren: Charlie, Eli & Stevie; 14 step grandchildren; 6 step great-great grandchildren; siblings: Shirley Baldwin of Apple Valley, Minnesota; Lynn (Betty) Hodgdon of Cherokee, Iowa; Pat White of Sioux City, Iowa; Marlys (Paul) Nagel of Castana, Iowa.

The family would like to thank the staff at Heritage Nursing Home and the staff of Mercy Hospice for the wonderful care they gave to Betty.
