CATHRYN A. SELK, 85, of Holstein, Iowa, formerly of Galva, Iowa passed away Monday evening, April 16, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Society in Holstein.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 21st at 10:30 a.m. at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Galva, Iowa. Pastor Paul Egger will officiate. Burial will be in the Holstein Cemetery. Cathryn was born on June 16, 1926 to Carl & Wiebke (Lorenzen) Selk at Holstein, Iowa. She attended school in Quimby and graduated from Quimby High School in 1946. She lived on the farm in Quimby for 30 years where she helped her parents until she moved to Galva in 1970. She resided in Galva until 2006 when she moved to the Good Samaritan Society in Holstein, Iowa. Cathryn did babysitting for many children in their homes. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Galva. She enjoyed the sewing club at the Church, gardening, flowers, especially violets, crocheting and making doilies and afghans. She was a former member of the Shaghai Card Club. She started the Galva Golden Age Club in 1973 and in 1988 the congregate meal program. She enjoyed getting out with people.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
