DAVID LEE “MONK” CLINE, 65, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Monday, January 21, 2013 at his residence.

Private graveside memorial services will be held at a later date.

David was born on February 14, 1947 at Cherokee, Iowa to Robert P. & Marcella (Krout) Cline. He attended Cherokee Schools. He took a Home Study course through the Stratford Career Institute to be a Legal Assistant and a Paralegal. He was very proud of his degree. He was a man with knowledge and worked various jobs over the years. David was a hard worker. He was not a stranger to anyone. While living in East Moline, Illinois for 20 years, he had worked at John Deere, Inc., was a bartender and a cook. He enjoyed collecting antiques, coin, and scrapping metal and iron. He lived with his mother and helped care for her.

He was preceded in death by his father Robert P. Cline, an infant brother Robbin, maternal grandparents Howard & Anne “Mama” Krout, paternal grandparents Glenn & Phoebee Cline.

He is survived by his mother Marcella Cline of Cherokee, Iowa; one son and one daughter: Michael David Cline of East Moline, Illinois; Kimberly Anne Cline of Des Moines, Iowa; four grandchildren: Anthony, Christian, Gabriel and Jasmine; his siblings: Jane (Jim) DeWitt of Washta, Iowa; Kathy (Scott) Schwaller of Storm Lake, Iowa; Ted (Mary) Cline of Cherokee, Iowa; Jill (Ron) Morris of Ogden, Utah: Karen (Dale) Gravenish of Cherokee, Iowa; 17 nieces and nephews; 26 great nieces and nephews, a few aunts and uncles, and several cousins.
