ALAN B.  CHRISTENSEN , 67, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away Wednesday morning, April 18, 2018 in the Cherokee Regional Medical Center.

Alan was born February 19, 1951 at Sleepy Eye, Minnesota to Harold & Ardis (Curry) Christensen. He graduated from Sleepy Eye Public High School in 1969. He served in the United States Navy on the USS Midway during the Vietnam War from July 2, 1969 until being honorably discharged on June 29, 1973. He was married to Sandy "Sam" Jensen in 1969 and they were later divorced in 1976. Alan was married to Lee Ann Siegfried on December 29, 1979 at Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Alan had worked for several companies in Minnesota before moving to Cherokee in 1979. While in Cherokee he had worked for Grundman-Hicks Construction Co. for a short time, Wilson Foods for 11 years, A & J TV Service for 4 years, Swain's Turbo Tunnel (Ampride) for 6 years, Brown Chevrolet & Buick for 6 years, and Holzhauer Motors for 7 years, retiring in January of 2016.

He was a member of the St. Paul's United Methodist Church where he had served on the Finance Committee, L.A. Wescott Post #2253 of the V.F.W., and the United Food & Commercial Workers Local Union #179.

Alan enjoyed working with stained glass in his earlier years, liked watching Nascar on TV, spending time with his dog Oreo, and loved the Minnesota Vikings, attending many of their home games with his cousin Louie Christensen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Kathy Christensen, and his father-in-law Kenneth Siegfried.

He is survived by his wife Lee Ann of Cherokee, IA; his siblings: Marcy (Jerry) Beech of Northfield, MN., Marlys Marks and significant other Jerry Behrens of New Ulm, MN., Lucy ((Jerome) Braun of Sleepy Eye, MN., Joleen (Steve) Jensen of Sleepy Eye, MN., Robert (Marlys) Christensen of New Ulm, MN., Dan Christensen and significant other Cheryl Deming of Evan, MN., a foster brother Gerald Hornick of Sleepy Eye, MN., his mother-in-law Betty Siegfried of Cherokee, IA., a brother-in-law Bruce Siegfried and fiancé Kari Schold of Minneapolis, MN., also many nieces and nephews.
