ALBIN  R.  CARLSON , 79, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away Saturday morning, November 27, 2021 at his residence.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, December 1 ^st , at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Jonathan Riggert will officiate. Burial of the cremains will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee, Iowa. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the church on Wednesday. There will be no visitation. Albin was born on August 6, 1942 at Charter Oak, Iowa to John & Violet (Reynolds) Carlson. He graduated from Charter Oak High School in 1961. He was married to Sheila Carroll in 1967. He was later married to Mary Lou Hanson in 1976. Albin had worked for Grundman-Hicks Construction Co. in Cherokee for a while and later on he owned and operated his own business Carlson Construction, working on many projects around the area. He was a jack of all trades. He retired in 2010.

Albin was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee. He served on the Cherokee Planning & Zoning Board for several years. He enjoyed going to the casino.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Lee Michael Carlson, siblings and their spouses: Garnet (Lyle) Knutson, John Carlson, James Carlson, Joe Carlson, Alice (Lloyd) Thompson, Nilmah (Duane) Thompson, sister-in-law Sandra Carlson; father-in-law and mother-in-law Kenneth and Mary Hanson; brothers-in-law Raymond Hanson, Robert Hanson and Michael Hanson.

He is survived by his wife Mary Lou of Cherokee, Iowa; seven sons: Terry Carlson (Anna Wilson) of Cherokee, IA; Danny (Melissa) Carlson of Russellville, AR; Doug (Denice) Carlson of Russellville, AR; Russ Carlson of Russellville, AR; Tom Carlson of Russellville, AR; Stacey Carlson (Collette Hatch) of Sac City, IA; Albin Carlson Jr. of Cherokee, IA; 14 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; one brother: Norman Carlson of Ute, Iowa; sisters-in-law: Bonnie Carlson of Berne, IA; Kathy Carlson of Ute, IA; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Anne (Ray) Newman of Sioux City, Iowa; Sharon (Joel) Grauer of Silver City, Iowa; Margaret Hanson of Marcus, Iowa and Rosella Hanson of Cherokee, Iowa and also many nieces and nephews.
