ALICE F. FUHRMAN, 101, of Cleghorn,Iowa passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Heartland Care Center in Marcus, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 10th, at 2 p.m. at the Cleghorn Presbyterian Church in Cleghorn. Rev. Peggy Hegeman and Pastor Bob Blair will officiate. Burial will be prior to the funeral service at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee. The burial service will be open to family and friends. There will be a family prayer service at 1:45 p.m. at the Church on Saturday. Visitation will be on Friday from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee with the family present from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. On line condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com

Alice Faye Kolb was born December 1, 1912 to Carl L. and Clarissa (Pixler) Kolb. She was a 1928 graduate of Cherokee Wilson High School. Upon graduation she attended normal school and then taught country schools south of Cleghorn for three years. She was married to Clarence Fuhrman on August 10, 1931 at Omaha, Nebraska and made their home on a farm northeast of Cleghorn before moving to town in 1967. For many years she and her sister-in-law, Laurel Fuhrman sang at funerals. She and Clarence were active members of the Cleghorn Presbyterian Church and Alice spent many hours working with church societies and auxiliaries. She and Clarence enjoyed tours including Europe, Alaska and Mexico. They often drove or flew to visit their daughters in California, Maryland, Louisiana, Canada and Hawaii.

Many things brought her joy, including golfing with Clarence, gardening, her two cats Whitney and Penny, singing and listening to older music and finding just the right card and gift for loved ones' birthdays. Most of all, she took great delight in visits from her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and was fond of spending time with all of them.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clarence on May 12, 1990, and a brother and sister-in-law Boyd and Louetta Kolb, a daughter-in-law Sarah Fuhrman.

She is survived by her son Roger Fuhrman of Cleghorn, Iowa; daughters Wanda Clark and her husband James of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Lorna Fuhrman of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 4 grandchildren, Alan, Jay and Jon Fuhrman and Andrea Clark, and great grandchildren Carson and Carlynn Fuhrman.
