Allen M. Bredthauer, 87, of Cherokee, IA passed away on Sunday April 26, 2026 at Accura Healthcare in Aurelia, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2026 at 2:00pm at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee, IA. Visitation with the family present will begin at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church until service time. Pastor Merritt Demski will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee, IA. The Boothby Funeral Home of Cherokee, Iowa is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com.
Allen was born on December 3, 1938 in Scotia, Nebraska to Dean & Faye Bredthauer. He attended Scotia Consolidated School and graduated in 1957. He attended the University of Nebraska. He was united in marriage to Dorthy on August 3, 1958 in Scotia, Nebraska.
Allen owned and operated A & D Appliance in Columbus, Nebraska alongside his wife, Dorthy. He was also a business manager for an allergy clinic and was a business manager and salesman for an HVAC company in Nebraska.
He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.
Allen loved cars and enjoyed driving through the car lots. He enjoyed pheasant and duck hunting when he was younger and being outdoors and going boating. In his later years, Allen enjoyed taking day trips to see antique tractors and cars.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorthy Bredthauer and son in law Johnny Beazley.
Allen will be lovingly remembered by his children, Kay & Dr. Steven Alston of Campbellsville, KY, Joyce Beazley and her fiancé Mark Boltjes of Aurelia, IA; 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; siblings, Dean & Patricia Crocker of Sun Lakes, AZ, Loren & Mary Babcock of North Platte, NE, Kevin & Sandra Bredthauer of Iowa Falls, IA, and Ronald & Barbara Schmidt of Lincoln, NE.
