ANDREW  J.  "ANDY"  RI S T , 65, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2022 in the Cherokee Specialty Care.

Andrew was born on April 18, 1957 to Paul and Virginia (Wilson) Rist at Viborg, South Dakota.  He attended Huron Public Schools, graduating in 1975.  He attended South Dakota State University obtaining his Master's Degree and continued working towards his doctorate from the University of Kansas, while working with debate students.

He worked as the manager of Hardee's in Cherokee and then later on worked at The Pool and Pub for many years where he really enjoyed spending time with the customers, until he had to retire due to his declining health.  He had been a resident of the Cherokee and Meriden area for many years.

Andy enjoyed playing golf, reading, movies, and watching television.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1992, his mother in 2017, and a brother-in-law Marty Bolger in 2020.

Andy is survived by his siblings, Mary Bolger of Newbury Park, California, Susan Jennerjahn of Huron, South Dakota, and Catherine Rist of Huron, South Dakota; nieces and nephews, Melinda (Chad) Roper, Marty (Jen) Bolger, Med Bolger, Sarah (Andy) Cummings; great nieces and nephews, Blake, Haven, Jack and Evie.
