ANITA J. HAZEN, 82, of LeMars, Iowa passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024 at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen, Iowa.

Private family funeral services will be held.  There will be no visitation.  Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee, Iowa.  Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com.  The Boothby Funeral Home of Cherokee, Iowa is assisting the family with arrangements.

Anita was born on September 15, 1941 to George and Mable (Mesner) Gottsche Sr. at Paullina, Iowa.  She graduated from Cleghorn High School in 1959.  She was united in marriage to Harold M. Hazen on November 29, 1959 at Cleghorn, Iowa.

Anita worked for Aalfs Manufacturing in LeMars and then worked at the LeMars Hospital until retiring to take care of her husband.

She was a member of the LeMars Church of Christ.

In her free time, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, playing cards, and spending time with family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold in 2015, granddaughter Kristen Hazen, siblings George (Doris) Gottsche, Jr., Evanell (Lorne) Thoms, Arlene (Lorne) Schlenger, Delores (Donald) Smith, and Shirley (LeRoy) Pedersen.

Anita will lovingly be remembered by her two children, Neal (Kathy) Hazen of Newell, Iowa and Kimberly (Paul) Staab of Remsen, Iowa; 6 grandchildren, Nikki (Doug) Ockerman, Ryan (Courtney) Hazen, Aaron (Tiffany) Hazen, Kacy (Gerardo) Ramirez, Michael Staab, and Mandy Staab; 15 great grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews.
