ANITA  M.  NELSON , 100, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away Friday morning, February 4, 2022 in Careage Hills.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 11th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa.  Pastor Larry Ostercamp will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee, Iowa. Visitation will be on Thursday, February 10th from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Anita was born May 30, 1921 on a farm in Rock Township, Cherokee County, Iowa to Otto and Hattie (Hoeppner) Olson. She attended Cherokee Schools. She was married to George "Swede" Nelson on July 26, 1943 at Missouri Valley, Iowa. To this union a son Wayne was born. She was a homemaker, enjoyed canning and time spent with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George "Swede" Nelson on March 16, 2003, a son Wayne on July 19, 2003, six brothers Merlyn, William "Bill", Donald, Leonard, Harold, and Francis "Skinner" Olson, eight sisters Clara Williams, Viola Brownmiller, Mary Joyce Olson, Dorothy Olson, Luella Cipperley, Margaret Patris, Darlene Milbrodt, and Evelyn Scott.

She is survived by one brother: Virgil Olson of Crystal, Minnesota; sisters-in-law Betty Olson of West Salem, Wisconsin and Patricia Olson of Cherokee, Iowa; also many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Careage Hills including Percy and Sarah, for their loving care and service over the years during her stay there.
