Obituary

ARLENE MANN, 91, of Aurelia, Iowa passed away Monday, February 14, 2011 at the Sunset Knoll Retirement Home in Aurelia.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 18th at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Pastor Jeff Harris will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home on Friday. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home with the family present from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com

Arlene was born October 12, 1919 in Cherokee, Iowa to Abe and Ethel (Eubank) Glidewell. She graduated from Wilson High School in 1937. She was married to Marvin Mann on March 26, 1938 in Sioux City, Iowa. She had lived in Aurelia since 1994, prior to this in Okoboji for 13 years and prior to this on a farm south Aurelia. She returned to school in the 1960's and received her nursing degree from Western Iowa Technical School of Nursing in Cherokee. She operated Mann's Nursing Home for a number of years and also worked as nurse at Sunset Knoll in Aurelia. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, rural Aurelia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on January 24, 1997, a son Marvin Douglas Mann and a brother Boyd Glidewell.

She is survived by one son and one daughter: Denny Mann and his wife Diane of Aurelia, Iowa; Janet Anderson and her husband Collin of Maple Grove, Minnesota; 4 grandchildren; John and Jessica Mann; Matthew Jergenson and his wife Sarah; Cari Yu and her husband Chung; a sister Carol Brown of Storm Lake, Iowa.
