Obituary

Arlene Faye (Schmillen) Stevenson was born into this earthly life on September 20, 1938, at Marcus, Iowa. She was the daughter of Arley F. Schmillen and his wife Ethel A. Nee Peck.

Arlene was baptized in the name of the Triune God in the St. Paul Methodist Church. Rev. F.E. Feller of the church administered the sacrament to her.

Dale L. Ginger and Arlene Schmillen were united in marriage November 12, 1958. Their marriage continued until Dale was called from this life by the Lord God.

Arlene studied the doctrines of the word of God in Lutheran Church and was confirmed in the Faith Lutheran Church in Marcus, Iowa in the spring of 1960. Her assigned confirmation memory verse is Matthew 7:7.

Arlene Ginger and Glenn Rathbun were united in marriage on May 11, 1968, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee, Iowa. This marriage continued until Glenn was called home by God.

Arlene Rathbun and Leonard Stevenson were united in marriage on October 23, 1999, at Faith Lutheran Church of Derby, Kansas, Rev. Boyer officiated. This marriage continued until Leonard's death when the Lord called him to his heavenly home.

Arlene and Glenn transferred their church to Trinity Lutheran Church, Freistatt, MO. Arlene was an active member of each of the churches where she was a member. She was active in the choir, served on various boards, was chairman of Vacation Bible School, also stewardship committee, Evangelism Committee, and chaired Bible studies on local and state levels. She loved the Lutheran faith and all it stood for. She also was employed as church secretaries at the various churches for 28 years.

Arlene's life on earth continued for 83 years, 5 months and 16 days. Her life with the Lord above will be forever!

She leaves to remember her, her daughter Kim Williams, husband Dave of Mulvane, KS, her daughter Brenda Jenkins, husband Roger of Aurora, MO; her son-in-law Michael Ronnfeldt; six grandchildren, Kurt Brizendine, wife Cricket of Aurora, IL, Chase Brizendine, Holly Brizendine, Christopher Ronnfeldt of Wichita, KS, Jonathan Ronnfeldt, wife Laura of Wichita, KS, Abby Tasker, husband Cyruss of Andover, KS. She also leaves three great-grandchildren, Will and Isabella Brizendine of Aurora, IL and Maxwell Ronnfeldt of Wichita, KS; her brother, Ronald Schmillen, wife Darlene of Marcus, IA; close cousin Delores Gabhart, of Arizona; and brother-in-law Burl Rathbun, wife Dorothy of Rapid City, SD; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Preceding her in death were her husband's, Dale, Glenn and Leonard; one daughter, Gwen Ronnfeldt; a granddaughter, Ginger Brizendine; and her parents, Arley and Ethel Schmillen, Ralph and Clarice Fitchett and Lois Elais and Don Rathbun.

Visitation will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Freistatt from 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 11, 2022 until service time at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Jake Sletten will be officiating. Her body will be laid to rest in Oak Hill Cemetery on Monday, March 14th at 10:30 a.m. with visitation held prior from 9-10:00 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, IA. Pastor Jonathan Riggert will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church radio broadcast. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home and Boothby Funeral Home.
