AUDREY ANNA STIENEKE, 66, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Monday evening, May 23, 2016 at Sunset Knoll Care & Rehab Center in Aurelia, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 26th, at 11 a.m. at the First Church of Christ in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Tom Lewis will officiate. Burial will be in the Afton Township Cemetery at rural Cherokee, Iowa. There will be a family prayer service at 10:45 a.m. at the church on Thursday. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Audrey was born April 7, 1950 in Cherokee, Iowa to Roy Webb Stieneke and Vera Anna (Mohror) Stieneke. She was home schooled. She had lived in Cherokee for many years and also at Village Northwest in Sheldon, Iowa for 20 years and spent the last 7 years in the Cherokee Pride Group Home. Audrey attended the Adult Daycare Center at the Cherokee Work Activity Center for a number of years. She was a member of the First Church of Christ and enjoyed doing art work. She had a love for babies and all kinds of animals.
She was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Vera Stieneke, two nieces Brenda Jean Stieneke and Dawn Renae Stieneke, maternal grandparents Frank and Louise Mohror, and paternal grandparents Ellis and Stella Stieneke.
She is survived by one brother: Fred Stieneke and his wife Diana of Cherokee, Iowa; niece Denise Stieneke of Cherokee, Iowa and special friend Dan Nysven; nephew Dana Stieneke of Cherokee, Iowa and fiancé Melissa Bock; an uncle Rex Boatman of Waterloo, Iowa; several cousins and her extended family at the Poplar St. Pride Group Home.
