Obituary

Barbara Sue Nichols 77 , of Cherokee, Iowa passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 23, 2020 at the Cherokee Specialty Care Nursing Home. She was lovingly cared for by amazing hospice nurses in her final days.

There will be no funeral services at this time. It was Barbara's wish to be cremated. The Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences can be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com

Barbara was born on October 18, 1942 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Ray & Susie Blain. She spent her childhood in Oklahoma, Texas, graduating from Valley High in Albuquerque New Mexico in 1960. She became a C.N.A. and devoted many years to caring for disabled children & mental patients.  Barbara also worked various side jobs.

She had a love for crocheting, cross stitch, sewing, puzzles, watching t.v., Stephen King movies, and being around her family. She had a weak spot for Milky Ways & Diet Coke.

She moved in 1970 and raised her family in San Diego, California before moving to Alaska in 2002 for a four year vacation, then moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2006, where she attended Church Alive! before settling in Cherokee in 2008. While there she enjoyed watching her grandchildren's sport games, Boy/Girl Scouts, and school activities. Christmas was her favorite holiday as all the family came together as tradition on Christmas Eve to exchange gifts.

She had a strong faith in her Lord and Savior and was a member of the First Church of Christ in Cherokee, where she enjoyed potlucks and various activity functions with her daughter and grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her Parents & her oldest son Marty, who passed in 2001.

She will be forever remembered by her loving children: Patty Flint of Cherokee Iowa and

Robert (Bridgett) Flint of Cedar City Utah; eight grandchildren: Bobbi Flint of San Diego California, Nathaniel (Brittney) Flint of Surprise Arizona, Randi Flint of Cherokee Iowa, Haylee Flint (Dex) of Ames, Iowa, Cody Flint of Cherokee Iowa, Ryan Hanson of San Diego California, Dylan Flint of San Diego, California and Strody Flint of Cherokee Iowa , one great grandchild: Carleigh Flint of Surprise Arizona, her best friend since 1976, Phyllis Lucas of Mobile, Alabama, two brothers: Henry "Hank" (Freda) Blain of Arizona City Arizona, Donald (JoAnne) Blain of Salem, Oregon plus many nieces and nephews.
