B.C . "BUD" DILOCKER , 96, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away Saturday evening November 27, 2021 in the Cherokee Regional Medical Center.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, December 6 th , at 6 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Jonathan Riggert will officiate. Military rites will be held outside the funeral home following the service by L.A. Wescott Post #2253 of the V.F.W. and the Cherokee American Legion. Visitation with the family present will be held on Monday, December 6 th from 4 p.m. until service time at the Boothby Funeral Home. Online condolences can be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com

Bud was born on August 1, 1925 to Charles and Lora (Boise) Dilocker on a farm near Mallard, Iowa.  The family moved to Cherokee in 1939.  He graduated from Wilson High School in Cherokee in 1943.  He joined the United States Navy in 1944 and was a motor machinist mate 2 nd class. Bud was an engineer on a landing craft in the South Pacific along the Filipino Islands during WWII.

After being discharged from the Navy, he came back to Cherokee to run Dilocker Auto Salvage with his family. He married June Bunney on July 7, 1950 at Carroll, Iowa.  He worked part-time nights as a radio operator for the Cherokee Police Department and County dispatch.  He joined the Cherokee County Sheriff's Department as 18-4 in 1975.  Bud retired from the Sheriff's office as 18-3 in 1990 and then became a civil deputy until fully retiring in 1996.

Bud loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  He liked spending time at the salvage yard, doing crossword puzzles and soduku. Bud loved talking about politics and law enforcement.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife June in 2017, daughter-in-law, Vicki Dilocker, three great-grandchildren, Sara Naab, Dalton Valentin, and Chloe Krueger, siblings Earle Dilocker, Delwood Dilocker, Caroll Dilocker, Gerald Dilocker, Eldon Dilocker, Byron Dilocker, and Wanda Hibbing.

Bud is survived by his four children Randie (John) Hardiman of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Tom (Sue) Dilocker of Cleghorn. Iowa, Tim Dilocker of Cherokee, Iowa, and Kellie (Dean) Douvia of Remsen, Iowa; fourteen grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson; sister Donna Stief of Cherokee, Iowa; brother Dennis (Sharon) Dilocker of Cherokee, Iowa; also many nieces and nephews.
