BERNIECE WOLTMAN, 97, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away Friday morning, April 1, 2016 in the Cherokee Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 5th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Memorial Presbyterian Church in Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Ken Fells will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee, Iowa. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the church on Tuesday. Berniece was born on September 7, 1918 at rural Quimby, Iowa to Claude & Emma (Mahoney) Hollingshead. She graduated from Quimby High School in 1937 and then attended Iowa Teacher's College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She lived on the farm with her parents and taught country school for a few years until her marriage to Kenneth Woltman on May 29, 1942 at Cleghorn, Iowa. She worked with her husband Kenny on the farm until their retirement. Berniece loved farm life and enjoyed sports both playing and watching them. She lived on the farm until Kenny passed away and then moved to The Beck in September of 2007 where she enjoyed visiting and making new friends. Bernice lived there six years until November of 2013 when she entered the Cherokee Villa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kenneth on June 5, 2007, a brother Forrest Hollingshead and sisters Thelma Hollingshead, Evie King, and Sally Warburton.
She is survived by one sister: Beverly (Lee) Pouliot of Arlington, Washington; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and special friends including Danny & Barb Steward and the Pitts family.
