Obituary

BERTHA "TEENY" WEILAND , 75, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Cherokee Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 16 th , at 2 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Magrey deVega will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset View Cemetery at Washta, Iowa. There will be a family prayer service at 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home on Wednesday. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. On line condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com

Bertha was born May 5, 1938 at Washta, Iowa to Harold and Darlene (Cowart) Jenkins. She grew up in the Washta area and graduated from Washta High School in 1957. She was married to Eugene Weiland on July 6, 1959 at Dakota City, Nebraska. The couple had lived in Cherokee since 1983, prior to this in Washta, Iowa and Long Beach, California. She was affiliated with the United Methodist Church. Teeny was a homemaker. She enjoyed her time spent with the grandkids, great grandkid and going to the casinos.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Mary Leriger, Becky Bennett and Rachael Hefner; brothers Joe, Dave and George Powell, brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Kenny Byerly, Carlos Moles, Ronny and Coleen Weiland.

She is survived by her husband, Eugene, three daughters; Kim (Mark) Cronin of Marcus, Iowa; Sherry (Terry) Moritz of Marcus, Iowa; Shelly (Kelly) Cronin of Remsen, Iowa; 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, three sisters, Viola Byerly of Cherokee, Alyce (Bob) Hirschman of Cherokee, Elizabeth "Toots" Moles of Cherokee; one brother Sam (Janet) Jenkins of Washta, Iowa; sisters-in-law Maureen Powell of Quimby, Iowa, Carol Peterson of Port Orchard, Washington, MariAnne Powell of Colorado, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Darrel (Diane) Weiland of Cherokee, Jerry (Maddy) Weiland of Connecticut, Wayne (Kathy) Weiland of So. Sioux City, Nebraska, also several nieces and nephews.
