Obituary

BETTY JEAN EHRICH, 87, a lifelong resident of Cherokee, Iowa passed Sunday evening, May 8, 2016 at her home with her children by her side.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 14th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Memorial Presbyterian Church in Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Eric Wright will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee, Iowa. There will be a family prayer at 10:15 a.m. at the Church on Saturday. Visitation will be on Friday from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee with the family present from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Online condolences can be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com

Betty Jean Ehrich was born on December 2, 1928 in Cherokee, Iowa to Wilbur and Eva (Enockson) Fishman. She graduated from Wilson High School in 1948 and lived within a 2-3 block area her entire life.

On June 6, 1948, she married the love of her life, Floyd Ehrich with whom she shared a warm fulfilling life until his death on March 8, 2015. They were blessed to have four children including: Don, Nancy, Barbara, and John.

She loved to socialize; she loved life, friends, and especially appreciated time spent with her family and grandchildren. She had fun whenever time was spent with grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed her golfing buddies, Friday night, Saturday night, and Sunday morning get togethers, birthday clubs, dance clubs, card clubs, and she loved to cook. She also enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Texas.

She had worked at Hope's Fashion Farm in Cherokee for several years and was a member of the Memorial Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Floyd on March 8, 2015, a grandson Jon Putenson, son-in-law Gary Putenson, her two brothers Harlow Fishman and Paul Fishman, and Floyd's parents Harry and Mae Ehrich.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Don (Sarah) Ehrich of Denver, Colorado and their son Chris Ehrich of Bardstown, Kentucky; Nancy Putenson of Holstein, Iowa and her children Erika (Gary) Dowell of Sarasota Springs, Utah, Joe (Rachel) Putenson of Cushing, Iowa and Sara (Brady) Orchard of Las Vegas, Nevada; Barbara (Walt) Bergman of Plover, Wisconsin and their daughters Melanie (Keith) Norton of Waukesha, Wisconsin and Lynn (Randy) Frost of Plover, Wisconsin; and John Ehrich of Cherokee, Iowa; 13 great grandchildren; sister-in-law; Rhoda Fishman of Cherokee, Iowa; sisters-in law and brothers-in-law Arlene (Dick) Deichman of Sarasota, Florida and Lois (Bob) Montgomery of Glendale, Arizona; also many nieces and nephews.
