Obituary

BETTY J. LUSK, 80, of Marcus, Iowa and formerly of Cherokee, passed away Saturday morning, September 6, 2014 at Heartland Care Center in Marcus, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 9th, at 11 a.m. at Meriden Evangelical Free Church. Pastor Larry Ostercamp will officiate. There will be a family prayer service at 10:45 a.m. at the church on Tuesday. Visitation will be on Monday from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Additional services and burial will be in Buckeye, Arizona later in the week. The family requests that memorials be made to the Heartland Care Center in Marcus, Iowa. On line condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com

Betty was born November 5, 1933 at La Junta, Colorado to Paul and Grace (Moore) Lowe. She graduated from Las Animas High school in Las Animas, Colorado in 1951. She then attended Otero Jr. College in La Junta, CO. graduating in 1953. She was married to Delbert Lee Lusk on February 2, 1958 at Las Animas, Colorado. Betty had worked for the Las Animas Telephone Office, Fort Lyon Telephone, Gambles, Bent County Motors, and for Circle K Stores as the assistant manager. They had lived in Colorado for many years until retiring and moving to Buckeye, Arizona. She had been a member of the Southern Baptist Church in Buckeye, AZ., 1st Christian Church and Brethren Church in Colorado and the Meriden Evangelical Free Church. Over the years she had been a 4-H leader, a member of the Jaycees and the White Cross of the Meriden Evangelical Free Church. Betty enjoyed horse racing, barrel racing, cooking, baking, canning, crocheting, gardening, candy making, singing, bible study, the church youth groups, and most of all her grandchildren and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Delbert on August 10, 2004, one son Jay R. Lusk, a brother and his wife Paul and Mary Jane Lowe.

She is survived by her three children: Rick J. Lusk and his wife Gail of Buckeye, Arizona; Kathy R. Nelson and her husband Steve of Meriden, Iowa; Justin P. Lusk and his wife Allison of Phoenix, Arizona; an adoptive son Tommy Vanosdell and his wife Michele of Arlington, Arizona; an adoptive daughter Tammie Lane of Buckeye, Arizona; 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; one brother Robert E. Lowe and his wife Sara of Mona, Utah; one sister Sharon K. Marcum and her husband Lowell of Las Animas, Colorado.
