BETTY  I.  WENTWORTH , 96, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2022 at Careage Hills in Cherokee, Iowa.

Betty was born on November 28, 1925 to Glenn and Myra (Weaver) Beeghley at Aurelia, Iowa.  She attended Aurelia Schools, graduating in 1943.  After graduation, she moved to Cherokee and worked at Gregg Nursing Home and the Cherokee Daily Times.

Betty married Vergil Wentworth on March 27, 1948.  She became one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1955.  She enjoyed talking to people about the Bible.

She loved traveling with her husband and children.  Later in life, she liked taking her grandchildren and great-grandchildren on trips.  She enjoyed getting outside to walk at the park.  She continued to walk at the park most every day up until she was 95.  Betty loved flowers, spending time in her garden, and reading.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband Vergil in 2005, an infant daughter, Carol Kay Wentworth, sister and brother-in-law Dorothy and Ray Shaw, a brother and sister-in-law Donald and Daisy Beeghley, and brothers Glenn Beeghley and Kenneth Beeghley.

She is survived by her four children, Sandra (David) Ward of Cherokee, Iowa, Mike (Patricia) Wentworth of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Jerry Wentworth of Austin, Texas, and Dennis Wentworth of Austin, Texas; four granddaughters Amy Phipps, Ginni Wentworth, Jessica Wentworth, and Megan Wentworth; nine great grandchildren Dustin, Brittany, Ashley, Cailey, Hannah, Kade, Paisley, Harper and Holden; four great great grandchildren Sophia, Chloe, Cole and Jada; one sister Lois (Richard) Weathers of Alta, Iowa; a sister-in-law Jeanne Beeghley of Dubuque, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
