Beverly
Evans
September 5, 1954 – May 7, 2026
BEVERLY JEAN KUBIK EVANS, 71, of Aurelia, Iowa and formerly of Bancroft, Nebraska, left this earth on Thursday, May 7, 2026 to join the heavenly choir after a brave battle with cancer.
Funeral services are currently pending at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa.
Beverly was born on September 5, 1954, in West Point, Nebraska to George and Marjorie (Sila) Kubik. Beverly joined a brother, Gerald, on a farm north of West Point. Beverly was baptized on Christmas Day at Grace Lutheran Church in West Point. After a few years the family moved to a farm north of Bancroft. Beverly spent kindergarten and first grade attending a one-room school, District 78. When the school closed, Beverly attended Bancroft Public School, where she graduated with the class of 1972. Beverly spent four years as church organist at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bancroft, where she was confirmed in 1968. Beverly’s love of music led her to attend Wayne State College, majoring in vocal and instrumental music. Beverly loved living in Berry Hall and making new friends. At college, Beverly met Dana Evans and they were married at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bancroft on August 30, 1975. Beverly enjoyed the honor of graduating cum laude with a BFAE degree. Beverly spent the next 40 years teaching music in schools in Nebraska, Iowa, and South Dakota, retiring in 2016.
Beverly’s pride for her Czech heritage was instilled in her by her father. She learned to play button accordion and attended the Czech festivals in the area. Czech food was important with kolaches and pivo at the top of the list. Beverly’s hobbies were playing piano, singing, being outside and gardening, going to concerts, and sporting events. Their household was never without a lot of cats. In 50 years of marriage, Dana and Beverly rescued close to 100 cats. Family was important to Beverly. Her mom and dad made sure the family was happy and had all they needed.
Survivors include her husband, Dana Evans, her brother, Gerald Kubik, nephew, Roger and Jennifer Kubik, and many wonderful cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Marjorie Kubik and many aunts and uncles.
