Beverly Ohlson Flentje

1930- 2018

Beverly Flentje passed away due to heart Failure on October 26, 2018 at Powell Place Assisted Living in Payson, Arizona with family at her side.

Bev was born in Aurelia, Iowa on May 3, 1930 where she learned to love the open fields and wonderful vegetables grown in the rich Iowa soil.

After graduating from Aurelia High School, Bev attended Denver Women's College and received her RN diploma from Mounds-Midway in St. Paul, Minnesota. Bev served as a registered nurse at both Sioux Valley (Cherokee) and the University of Iowa hospitals in Iowa.

Bev moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1970 and to Payson, Arizona in 1996. She loved the mountain setting with the beach-like temperatures of Payson.  Bev was very active at the Anglican Holy Nativity Cathedral and St. Phillips Apostle Parish.

Bev also loved traveling around the country and internationally including Sweden, Italy and the Great Wall of China. She also loved reading her books, studying history, social activities, entertaining and artistic pursuits.

Bev was a Hospice Volunteer for Hospice Compassus and involved in the Eucharistic Ministry for the Homebound at St. Phillips.

Beverly is survived by her daughter Cyndy Cross of Payson, Arizona, her son Steve Flentje (Glenda) of Fullerton, California, sister-in-law Juanita Adamson of Cherokee, Iowa, and many nieces, nephews and cousins and their children and grandchildren all of whom she loved.

Beverly's family would like to thank Hospice Compassus, Powell Place and Banner Home Health and the Payson Fire Department for the outstanding care that they provided for their mother.

A mass held on November 11, 2018 at St. Phillips Apostle Parish was dedicated to Beverly.

She will be buried next to her parents, sisters and brothers in Good Hope Cemetery in Cherokee, Iowa on June 30th at 12:15 p.m. with a lunch reception to follow in the basement of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. The Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa is assisting the family with the arrangements. Online condolences can be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com
