BOBBY GLENN "BOB" HATCH, 87, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Sunday evening, September 10, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, September 14th. at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Bob Stout will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset View Cemetery at Washta, Iowa. There will be military rites at the cemetery by L.A. Wescott Post #2253 of the V.F.W. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. with the family present from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Bob was born July 31, 1930 in Cherokee, Iowa to Glenn and Gladys (Harvey) Hatch. He graduated from Washta Consolidated Schools in 1949. He served in the U. S. Army from 1952 until 1954 during the Korean War being discharged as a Private First Class. He was married to Beth Haburn on May 31, 1952 in Sioux City, Iowa.
He worked construction from 1949 until 1980 operating Hatch Masonry Construction. He had been a resident of Cherokee since 1950. Bob semi-retired in 1980 but still was involved with the decision of the business with his two sons. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed collecting coins and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Donald and Freeman Hatch, three sisters Maxine Priz, Marjorie Albers and Bonnie Robinson.
He is survived by his wife, Beth and two sons; Cameron and Lindsay both of Cherokee, Iowa; five grandchildren, Kayla Ludvigson and her husband Kellen, Christy Hatch, Nicole Hatch, Mason Hatch, and Courtney Hatch; three great grandchildren Corra Carmen Kay, Wyatt Lars Ludvigson, and Effie Marie Ludvigson; sisters-in-law Sharon Wright Scranton, Iowa; Joan Haburn of Cherokee, Iowa.
