BONNIE B. McDONALD, 87 , of Cherokee, Iowa passed away on Monday, April 18, 2022 at Cherokee Specialty Care.

Bonnie was born on May 29, 1934 to Gittie (Johnson) and Oliver "Ollie" Robeson in the Willow Township, Cherokee County, Iowa. She attended Quimby Elementary and then Washta High School and received her G.E. D.

She was united in marriage to Gerald McDonald on December 3, 1951; together they had two sons, David and Steven.  She worked at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital and the Cherokee Mental Health Institute until her retirement in 1995.

She was a member of the Red Hats.  In her spare time, she enjoyed working on crochet and needlepoint projects.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, brothers William Harold Robeson, Everett "Bill" Robeson,  and Jessie Robeson; sisters Bernece Sargent, Alice Devea Sprow, Susie DeYoung, Hazel Lloyd, Lottie Laverne Magnussen, and Mabel LaBounty; great grandchildren, Kage McDonald, Ashelyn McDonald, Jacoby Keenan, and Silas Keenan.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald McDonald of Cherokee, Iowa; two sons, David (Darla) McDonald of Cherokee, Iowa and Steven (Karen) McDonald of Forestville, California; eight grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sister Carole Johnson of Osceola, Iowa; also several nieces and nephews.
