CAROL J.   BECK , 79, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Friday afternoon, June 22, 2018 in Unity Point Health-St. Luke's in Sioux City, Iowa.

Visitation and a time of sharing memories will be held on Sunday morning, June 24 ^th ,  at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. The family would like to invite everyone to Jobie's Pastime Lounge in Cherokee for a luncheon following the visitation from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Online condolences can be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com

Carol was born July 11, 1938 at Iowa City, Iowa to Cecil & Veris (Fogleman) Hammond. She graduated from Fonda High School in 1959. She moved to California and lived in the San Fernando Valley area for many years. Carol was married to Robert H. Beck on February 14, 1982 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She had worked as an accountant for several manufacturing companies in California, retiring in 1997 and returning to Cherokee with her husband.

Carol was an avid reader, enjoyed pool and golf, but bowling was her love; at one time she was a semi-pro bowler. She also liked to spend time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert Beck on November 10, 2016, a son Robin Henderson, brothers Cecil, George, and Richard Hammond, sisters Deanna Faye Hammond and Kim Powers, brother-in-law Bob Brown.

She is survived by three children: Ronald Henderson of Cherokee, Iowa; Ricky (Lori) Henderson of Mesa, Arizona; Kelly Beck of Simi Valley, California; three grandchildren: Rick Henderson of Mesa, Arizona; Danny Henderson of Sublimity, Oregon; Emily Estala of Simi Valley, California; one great granddaughter Mia Henderson of Mesa, Arizona; her siblings: Koreen (Bud) Tharp of Cherokee, Iowa; Gordon (Donna) Hammond of Cherokee, Iowa; John (Dorie) Hammond of Ellsworth, Kansas; Patricia Brown of Overton, Nevada; Peggy Nagel of Cherokee, Iowa; Steve (Margaret) Hammond of Simi Valley, California:; brother-in-law Dennis Altman of New Lebanon, Ohio; also many nieces and nephews; her cat Henry and many friends.
