Obituary

CAROL L. BRADSTREET , 74, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away Thursday morning, October 8, 2020 with her family by her side at Accura Healthcare in Cherokee, following a courageous three year battle with A.L.S.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 12 th , at 10:30 a.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Jean Morse will officiate. Burial will be in the Waterman Cemetery at Sutherland, Iowa. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m.at the church on Monday. Visitation will be on Sunday, October 11 th from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. with the family present from 4 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Please practice social distancing and masks will be required at the funeral and the visitation. Carol was born on October 29, 1945 at Sioux City, Iowa to John Alva and Mary Luella (Durst) Cook. She grew up in Rodney and Ticonic, Iowa moving to Cherokee at the age of 8. She attended Cherokee Washington High School and later obtained her G.E.D. She was married on December 7, 1960 in Cherokee, Iowa to Harry Bradstreet.

She went to work in 1962 at the Cherokee Mental Health Institute working in the dietary department, where she worked numerous positions including, secretary for the dietician, managed the canteen, and food production supervisor. She ended her career as Director of Food Services, retiring after 46 years of service in October 2008.

Carol enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and motorcycle trips all around the country with her husband. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and loved spending time with her family.

Carol was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son John Bradstreet in 2010, two sisters-in-law, Sandra Cook and Joan Bradstreet, brother-in-law Steve Beaton.

She is survived by her husband Harry of almost 60 years of Cherokee, Iowa; one daughter: Becky (Steve) Letsche of Chaska, Minnesota; four grandchildren Elizabeth (Shan) Keomala, Andrew Bradstreet, Alex Letsche and Anna Letsche, five great grandchildren: Korbin, Kaden, Karson, Kinsley and Kalli Keomala; brother Jerry Cook of Spirit Lake, Iowa, brother-in-law Denny Bradstreet of Sioux City, Iowa, and sister-in-law Bonnie Beaton of Spencer, Iowa, and also several nieces.
