CAROL LOUISE (HOF) LOSHMAN, 74, of Calumet, Iowa died Sunday, February 12, 2012 at Sunset Knoll Retirement Home in Aurelia, Iowa.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 18th, at 11 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. The family will greet friends and relatives from 10 a.m. until service time on Saturday. On line condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com
Carol was born July 14, 1937 at Sumner, iowa, the daughter of Carl Hof Sr. And Lulu (Messerer) Hof. She was raised in the Sumner area on the family farm. Carol attended country school in Sumner before moving to Cedar Falls where she graduated from High School from Iowa State Teachers College in 1955.
On December 3, 1955, carol married her high school sweetheart Dean Loshman in San Diego, California where he was stationed while serving in the U.S. Navy. When Dean was honorably discharged from the Navy the couple returned to Iowa. After being a stay at home mother Carol worked various jobs. Most memorable to Carol was when she worked at the First Miss Inc. in Sumner and retiring from Ag Services in Cedar Falls.
Carol was a member of the First Brethren Church in Waterloo and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Sumner. Carol had a passion for cross stitching. Through the years she passed many of her beautiful creations to her family and friends that will be cherished forever. In Calumet Carol loved her time as a Red Hat Lady. She loved her friends dearly and the fun times they had.
Long Lake in Longville, Minnesota was a second home to Carol and Dean. Many of her most special memories happened at the lake. This was time of shopping, fishing, boating, fish fries, campfires, family and friends visiting and watching her family grow.
Survivors include her husband Dean of Calumet. Children and their spouses. Denise (Craig) Haupt of Sumner, Lisa (Steve) Oberbroeckling of Sumner, Steve (Gina) Loshman of Calumet. Sisters Evelym Keel of Columbia, Missouri; Phyllis (Stan) Donat of Fayette, Iowa; Jeanette (Art) Reusch and Donna Jacobi of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Theresa Jean Loshman,sisters Lillian Hof and Ethel June Hof, a brother Carl Hof and an infant brother.
