CAROLYN KAY WELLS, 82, of Storm Lake, Iowa, passed away Saturday morning, August 22, 2015 in the Careage Hills at Cherokee, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 25th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Cris Decious will officiate. Cremation will follow the service and burial will be in the Graceland Park Cemetery in Sioux City, Iowa. Visitation will be on Tuesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Kay was born August 4, 1933 in Des Moines, Iowa to Paul & Madeline (Smith) Wells. She was baptized and confirmed in the Presbyterian Church. She graduated from Cushing High School.in 1951. She attended Nebraska State Teacher's College at Wayne, Nebraska for two years and later graduated from Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa in 1973 with a B.A. in Elementary Education. Kay had worked for an Oil Company in Denver, Colo. and also as a secretary at Buena Vista College in Storm Lake. She had been a resident of Storm Lake for many years. She was affiliated with the Presbyterian Church.
Kay loved animals, both dogs and cats, talking politics, and traveling to visit her family. She had a heart as big as the outdoors.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson Davis Graff, a brother Richard, a sister Mary and a brother-in-law John Hudgins.
She is survived by her three children: Rebecca "Becky" Richardson of Cleghorn, Iowa; Nicholas "Nick" (Jill) Graff of Albertville, Minnesota; Julia "Julie" Lonning of Mason City, Iowa; six grandchildren: Kristin Thompson, Ryan McClatchey, Sean McClatchey, Alex Wadsley, Carly Boyd, Lauryn Graff; one great granddaughter Aria Thompson; a sister Helen Hudgins of Liberty, Missouri.
