Obituary

CHARLES PAUL HAROLD, 83, passed away at home on November 20, 2010 in Portsmouth, Virginia.

Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. on Monday, June 27, 2011 at Quimby Cemetery, Quimby, Iowa. Rev. Carolyn Hollar will officiate. There will be military rites at the graveside. The Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa is assisting the family with the arrangements. Online condolences can be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com. The family requests that memorials be made to the Quimby United Methodist Church or the Quimby American Legion.

Paul was born in Wanego, West Virginia, the son of the late Gertrude Jarvis Harold and Howard Harold. He was a retired Chief Warrant Officer 4 with 32 years of service in the U.S. Navy. He served his country proudly during World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. He was a recipient of the Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces Meritorious Unit Citation Gallantry Cross for his service in Vietnam. He was an active member of 10 ships veterans' groups, the Fleet Reserve and a member of Bucks Branch Hunt Club of Capron, VA.

He was preceded in death by his brother Forrest M. Harold and his grandson Thomas Clark "T.C." Harold.

Paul is survived by is his wife of 54 years, Sharon M. Clark Harold; daughter Sharlee Seeley La Brecque and her husband Jimmy; son Jeffrey D. Harold and his wife Marie; grandchildren: Harry Seeley IV, Kendall Seeley, Henry "Max" Harold, Silas Wolf Harold; sister Pearl H. Collage; brothers: Raymond C. Harold and Garland "Duke" Harold; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
