CHARLES L. WEBER, 90, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Thursday afternoon, September 11, 2014 at the Countryside Estates in Cherokee.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 20th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Logan Park Cemetery in Sioux City, Iowa. Pastor Clint Hogrefe will officiate. Visitation will be on Friday from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Charles was born on November 5, 1923 on the family farm in Hancock Township, Plymouth County, Iowa to Otto Lawrence & Harriet Gertrude (Pike) Weber. He graduated from Jefferson High School, Jefferson, S.D. in 1941. He was a Veteran of WW II serving in the U.S. Marine Corps with the rank of Corporal and fought on Iwo Jima. After the war he attended watchmaker's school in Kansas City, MO. He was married to Joyce P. Senseney on February 14, 1952 at Sioux City, Iowa. He had worked at Thorpe's Jewelers in Sioux City, ran his own jewelry store in Elkton,S.D., in Holstein from 1955 - 1963 and then operated Weber's Jewelry Store in Cherokee from 1963 until his retirement in 1982.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Joyce on November 2, 2013, a grandson Craig Verrone, two brothers Lisle and Norman Weber.
He is survived by four sons: Ralph (Sandy) Verrone of Grand Junction, Colorado; Kenneth (Tricia) Verrone of Ankeny, Iowa; Steve (Karen) Weber of Newark, Delaware; Larry Weber of Cherokee, Iowa; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
