CLARA MAE SCHROEDER, 89, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Thursday, November 28, 2013 at Countryside Estates in Cherokee
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 3rd at 2 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Kenneth Thrasher will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee. There will be a family prayer service at 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home on Tuesday. Clara was born November 14, 1924 at Nehawka, Nebraska to Louis Henry and Catherine Elizabeth (Dore) Chappell. She attended school in Nebraska. She was married to Henry Schroeder on March 23, 1946 at Mankato, Kansas. She had lived in Cherokee for many years, prior to this in Hastings, Nebraska. Clara did house cleaning for several families, worked at Speelmon's, Hartley Creamery and at the kitchen at Cherokee Mental Health Institute. She enjoyed her collection of teddy bears, salt and pepper shakers. Clara truly believed the Lord was her Savior.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five brothers and two sister and two step-sons.
She is survived by one daughter and one son; Marlene Schroeder of Cherokee, Iowa; Ronald Schroeder of Omaha, Nebraska; two grandchildren; Jeremy (Tara) Schroeder of Hastings, Nebraska; Justin Schroeder of Hastings, Nebraska; two great grandchildren MaKensy Schroeder and Jaxon Schroeder; sister-in-law Opal Chappell of Plattsmouth, Nebraska.
