Obituary

CLAUS  ROGER  ANDERSON , 78, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away Wednesday morning, February 12, 2020 in the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE. following a short illness.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 18th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Jean Morse will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee, Iowa with military rites by L.A. Wescott Post #2253 of the V.F.W. and the Cherokee American Legion. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the church on Tuesday. Visitation will be on Monday, February 17th,  from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. with the family present from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Online condolences can be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to the family would be appreciated.

Roger was born on July 1, 1941 at Cherokee, Iowa to Claus E. & Jean (Johnson) Anderson. He graduated from Aurelia High in 1959. He attended Western Iowa Tech in Sioux City receiving an Electronics Degree.  He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was married to Joan Butler Fletcher on January 14, 1967 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Remsen, Iowa.

Roger had worked for Grundman-Hicks Construction Co. in Cherokee as a finish carpenter for several years, retiring in June of 2003 following a vehicle accident. He was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee and L.A. Wescott Post #2253 of the V.F.W.

He enjoyed spending time on the computer doing research and Sudoku puzzles. He also liked Puzzle Books and watching John Wayne Westerns.

He was preceded in death by his father Claus E. Anderson, his mother and his step-father Jean and Raymond Loesche.

He is survived by his wife Joan of Cherokee, Iowa; his two children: BillyRay E. Anderson of Cherokee, Iowa; Patricia (Brent) Woltman of Aurelia, Iowa; three grandchildren: Brodie, Cash and Archer Woltman; two sisters: Genevieve (Phil) Walsh of Alta, Iowa; Carolyn (Terry) Oleson of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota; also several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
