Obituary

CURTIS L. CHISMAN, 93, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Cherokee Regional Medical Center.

Memorial services will be held Monday, June 3rd, at 11 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Magrey deVega will officiate. There will be a flag presentation by the V.F.W. at the funeral home on Monday. Burial will be at the Chisman Cemetery near Ottumwa, Iowa at a later date. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home with the family present from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. The family requests that memorials be made to St. Paul's United Methodist or the Cherokee Public Library.

Curtis was born December 18, 1919 at Blakesburg, Iowa to Paul A. and Cora (Johnston) Chisman. He attended Blakesburg Public School graduating in 1938. He then served in the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Following the war he continued his education with a BA Degree from Simpson College. He was married to Mary Christian on May 29, 1948 at Red Oak, Iowa. The couple had lived in Cherokee since 1959. Curits had worked as a fieldman for the Farm Bureau, worked in Auto Parts Sales and the parts department for Bushlow Implement for many years, retiring in December of 1983. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. He was a member of L. A. Wescott Post #2253 of the V.F.W. and a former Lion Club member.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Frank.

He is survived by his wife Mary and two children; Ronald Chisman and his wife Jan of Urbandale, Iowa; Janet Chisman of Versailles, Kentucky; two grandchildren Zachary and Colleen; a sister Shirley Krause of Aurora, Illinois.
