DALE MARTIN SLEEZER SR., 96 of rural Aurelia, Iowa, passed away peacefully Friday morning, December 9, 2016 in the Accura Health Care in Cherokee, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 13th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Memorial Presbyterian Church in Cherokee. Rev. Eric Wright will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Aurelia, Iowa. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the church on Tuesday. Visitation will be on Monday from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. with the family present from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Dale was born on November 29, 1920 to William Nicholas & Leota (Menefee) Sleezer in the family farm house north of Aurelia, Iowa. He attended country school and graduated from Aurelia High School in 1939. He was married to Margery Fogleman on January 5, 1942 at the home of the bride's grandmother Clara Williams in Cherokee, Iowa. He was a lifetime farmer and cattle feeder. He had lived north of Aurelia on the family farm's his entire life. Dale was an elder, member and trustee of the Memorial Presbyterian Church in Cherokee. He was involved in many clubs and organizations including, Farm Bureau for over fifty years, Aurelia Kiwanis, Cherokee County Cattleman's Assoc., Cherokee County Pork Producers, Knights of Pythians, on Maple Valley Mutual Insurance Board, Afton Board of Trustees for many years, and served on the Cherokee County Board of Supervisors from 1972 until 1978.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Margery on January 22, 2012, one brother Glenn Sleezer and a niece Debra Fogleman.

He is survived by his four children: Patricia (Dr. James) Johansen of Cherokee, Iowa; Dale Jr."Butch" (Bonnie) Sleezer of Aurelia, Iowa; Janet (David) Sullivan of Aurelia, Iowa; Robert (Diane) Sleezer of Aurelia, Iowa; 10 grandchildren: Amy (Chaplain CPT David )Stimes, Leah (Andrew) Kneisler, Douglas Sleezer, Derrick Sleezer, Dana (Nicky) Sleezer, Cassie, Whitnie, and Lacie Sleezer, Christy (Randy) Badtram, Nicholas Sullivan (Sarah Schueder); 18 great grandchildren; special friend Barbara Patterson of Aurelia, Iowa; also many other relatives and friends.
