DANIEL JAMES GILL, 66, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Friday, December 6, 2013 at his home in Cherokee.
Daniel was born August 7, 1947 at Sioux City, Iowa to James and Bernice (Lawrence) Gill. He graduated from Winnebago Public High School in the Class of 1965. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War from 1965 until 1969, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was married to Martha Burmester on May 20, 1994 at Pender, Nebraska. Dan had lived in Cherokee since 2001, prior to this in Thurston, Nebraska for 12 years. He had worked for R. J. Thomas Manufacturing, retiring in October of 2010. He enjoyed gambling by playing Texas Holdem, Poker, slot machines and going fishing.
He was preceded in death by his father James Gill.
He is survived by his wife Martha and 4 children, James (Lisa) Gill of Layton, Utah; Mike (Jill) Gill of South Sioux City, Nebraska; Brent (Charlene) Gill of Pierre, South Dakota; Shannon Gill of Cherokee, Iowa; his mother Bee Gill of Winnebago, Nebraska; 10 grandchildren and one more on the way; 1 great grandson and one more on the way; siblings, Jacquelyn Gee of Sioux City, Iowa; Kathleen (Roger) Mast of Winnebago, Nebraska; Pastor Larry (Stephanie) Gill of Swartz Creek, Michigan; Cyndi (Gordon) Korinke of Sioux City, Iowa.
