DARLENE J. KLOCKGETHER, 79, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Monday, June 16, 2008 at the Cherokee Villa Nursing & Rehab Center following a short illness.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 20th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Faith in Christ Fellowship in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Pinky Person and Pastor Ted Greaves will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee, Iowa. Darlene was born October 30, 1928 at Sioux Rapids, Iowa to William and Audrey (Pennel) Herpst. She was married to Clarence Geary Sr. on February 15, 1947 at Jackson, Minnesota. She was later married to George Klockgether on April 25, 1964 in Cherokee, Iowa. She had worked at Gregg's Hilltop Nursing Home as a nurse's aide. She had lived in Cherokee since 1960, prior to this in Washta, Iowa. She was a member of the Faith in Christ Fellowship. She enjoyed animals, baking, playing cards and her Church was an important part of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Dale Wayne Klockgether in 1965, two brothers Don and Tom Freese and one sister Janice Freese.
She is survived by six children: Clarence "Skip" Geary Jr. of Frisco, Texas; Darrell "Cork" Geary of Sioux City, Iowa; Raymond Geary of Oceano, California; Gail Geary Rowland of Aurelia, Iowa; Joy Draisey of Aurelia, Iowa; Holly Bakker and her husband Dave of Cherokee, Iowa; 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; 3 brothers and two sisters: Larry Freese of Washington, Iowa; Calvin Freese of Solon, Iowa; Kenny Freese of Rockford, Illinois; Jaree Lewis of Wheatland, Wyoming; and Joan Auen of Sac City, Iowa.
