DAVID L. LOCKWOOD, 76, of Kansas City, Missouri, formerly of Calumet, Iowa  passed away on July 24, 2022 in Kansas City, Missouri.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the Zion United Church of Christ  in Calumet, Iowa.  Mr. Ron Mugge will officiate.  Burial will be in the O'Brien-Liberty Cemetery at Calumet, Iowa.  Military rites will be performed at the graveside.  The Boothby Funeral Home of Cherokee, Iowa is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com .

David was born on November 2, 1945 to Roy and Luella (Linneweh) Lockwood.  He graduated from Sutherland High School in 1964.  He was married to Cyndy Lockwood on November 10, 1981 in El Paso Texas.

David joined the Army in 1967 and retired in 1987 as a Chief Warrant Officer 3.  After retiring from the military, he moved to Las Vegas to begin work at EG&G, a government contractor, working on radar systems.  After retiring from EG&G (JT3) in 2006, David and his wife moved to Kansas City, MO to be closer to family and enjoy retirement.

David loved to get in his car for an impromptu road trip to see family and friends regardless of how far.  He never missed the opportunity to attend a family or class reunion.  He also enjoyed working on his yard.  He was always smiling and making people laugh.  David had a kind heart, an infectious laugh, and a great sense of humor.  He loved his family, friends, and his country.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Luella Lockwood, brothers Stanley (Lola) Lockwood, Larry (Dallas) Lockwood, brother-in-law Darrell Egger.

He is survived by his wife, Cyndy Lockwood of Kansas City, MO; his daughter, Carrie (Darren) Burch of Minneapolis, MN; his two stepchildren, Dale (Donna) Gillingham and their daughter, Addie Gillingham of Albuquerque, NM; Carri Nuttall, of Kansas City, MO and her two sons, Jacob Nuttall and Joshua Nuttall of Kansas City, MO; sister, Karen Egger of Cleghorn, IA; sister, Joanne (Larry) Kruse of The Villages, Florida; also several nieces and nephews and many friends.
