DAVID LEE NELSON, 61 , of Cherokee, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at his residence in Cherokee, Iowa.

It was Dave's wish to be cremated and there will be no services at this time.  The Boothby Funeral Home of Cherokee, Iowa is assisting the family with the arrangements.  Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com .

He was born on July 13, 1961 to Lee and Janice (Walker) Nelson at Cherokee, Iowa.  He graduated from Cherokee Washington High  School  in 1979 then attended Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon, Iowa.  Dave graduated from there in 1981 with a degree in Automotive Electronics.

Dave owned and operated Nelson Repair in Cherokee for several years, retiring in 2021 due to declining health.

He was a member of the NRA.

Dave enjoyed racing cars, shooting and marksmanship.  He had a profound love for animals, especially cats.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Janice Nelson.

Dave is survived by his brother, Daniel L. Nelson, M.D. and his wife, Maria of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and their children, Elisha and Enrico.
