DAVID J. STODDEN , 64, of Marcus, Iowa, passed away Monday morning, January 20, 2020 in the Cherokee Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 24th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Peace Lutheran Church in Marcus, Iowa. Pastor Kevin Roop will officiate. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Marcus, Iowa. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the church on Friday. Visitation will be on Thursday, January 23rd from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. with the family present from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. David was born on February 26, 1955 at Sioux City, Iowa to Carl & Donna (Harnack) Stodden. He graduated from Marcus High School in 1973. He attended night classes at Morningside College for two years, working on a Business Degree. He was married to Sally Carstens on September 6, 1975 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Marcus, Iowa. He had farmed, worked construction, Wilson Foods in Cherokee, Goldsmith Trucking, Christensen Bros Inc. and for Wells Blue Bunny in LeMars, Iowa, retiring in June of 2009.
David was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Marcus, Iowa. He enjoyed farming, watching Nascar racing, Science Fiction, spending time with his family, and was a Dallas Cowboys fan. He had been a resident of the Marcus area most of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Dennis and Gary Stodden, and his father-in-law Gordon Carstens.
He is survived by his wife Sally of Marcus, Iowa; four children: Karl (Jen) Stodden and their two sons David and Hunter of LeMars, Iowa; Tim Stodden of Marcus, Iowa; Barb Stodden of Forrest Grove, Oregon; Adam Stodden of Colfax, Iowa; his siblings: Diane (Ken) Hansen of Smithville, Missouri; Steve (Bev) Stodden of Marcus, Iowa; Carla Stodden of Marcus, Iowa; mother-in-law: Joan Carstens of Aurelia, Iowa; sisters-in-law: Joan Stodden of Cherokee, Iowa; Joyce (Lynn) White of Stratford, Iowa; Peggy (Roger) Seel of Cherokee, Iowa; also several nieces and nephews.
