DAVID A. SULLIVAN, 72, of Aurelia, Iowa, passed away at Accura Healthcare of Aurelia on Tuesday, August 8, 2023.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Presbyterian Church in Cherokee, Iowa.  Pastor Jonathan Caldwell will officiate.  Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee, Iowa.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the family present from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa.  Services will be livestreamed on the Boothby Funeral Home website through the assistance of Fuller Digital Solutions. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to them for a future project in honor of David.

David was born on December 25, 1950 to Donald P. and Elizabeth (Haas) Sullivan at Manchester, Iowa.  He attended St. Mary's Catholic School and West Delaware Schools in Manchester, Iowa.  He worked for Cedar Valley Corp. in Waterloo, Iowa.

David was united in marriage to Janet M. Sleezer on September 21, 1974 at the Memorial Presbyterian Church in Cherokee, Iowa.  David and Janet moved to Aurelia in 1980. He then farmed with his father-in-law, Dale Sleezer, Sr. for several years and later was a partner in RODADA Farms.

He was a member of the Memorial Presbyterian Church and served the church as a former trustee.

David was a valuable member of the Cherokee County Pork Producers.  He enjoyed working the Iowa Pork tent at the Iowa State Fair serving pork chops.

David loved watching his beloved Chicago Bears and Iowa Hawkeyes, attending truck pulling events with his brother and family, being with his grandchildren, playing cards, loved grilling and giving everyone shit.

He was preceded in death by his parents Don and Liz Sullivan; mother-in-law and father-in-law Dale and Marge Sleezer; brother Dennis "Pudge" Sullivan; sister Denise "Pepper" Sullivan and sister-in-law Pat Johansen.

David will lovingly be remember by his wife, Janet Sullivan of Aurelia, Iowa; children, Christy (Randy) Badtram and their children, Ella and Brody of Cherokee, Iowa, Nicholas (Sarah Schueder) Sullivan of Cherokee, Iowa and their children, Brendon Sullivan, Hudson Sullivan, and  Alyssa Melton and Fiance', Darric Wurth and their children, Natalee, Nixen, and Navee; siblings, Daniel "Ding" (Sharon) Sullivan of Dunham Springs, Louisiana, DeeAnn "Mouse" (Loras Sabers) Sullivan of Manchester, Iowa, and DJ "Chop" (Carla) Sullivan of Manchester, Iowa; sister-in-law Marilyn Sullivan of Edgewood, Iowa; brothers-in-law, Butch (Bonnie) Sleezer of Storm Lake, Iowa, Robert (Diane) Sleezer of Aurelia, Iowa, and Dr. JR Johansen of Cherokee, Iowa; also many nieces and nephews.
