DEAN B. LOSHMAN, 81, of Calumet, Iowa passed away Thursday morning, February 16, 2017 at his home.
Memorial services will be held on Sunday, February 19th, at 1 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. The family will greet friends and relatives on Sunday from 12 noon until service time at the funeral home. Online condolences can be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com
Dean was born on November 2, 1935 at Cedar Falls, Iowa, the son of Lloyd & Gwenda (Payne) Loshman. He graduated high school from Iowa State Teachers College in 1955 at Cedar Falls.
On December 3, 1955, Dean married his high school sweetheart Carol Hof in San Diego, California where he was stationed while serving in the U.S. Navy. When Dean was honorably discharged from the Navy, the couple returned to Iowa. Dean worked various jobs. Most memorable to Dean was when he worked at First Miss Inc. in Oran, Iowa and retiring from C-S Agrow Service in Calumet, Iowa.
Dean was a member of the First Brethren Church in Waterloo and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Sumner, Iowa. In Calumet, Dean rejuvenated his carpentry skills in his later years.
Long Lake in Longville, Minnesota was a second home to Dean and Carol. Many of his most special memories happened at the lake. There was time for fishing, boating, fish fries, campfires, family and friends visiting and watching his family grow.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Theresa Jean Loshman, his wife Carol on February 12, 2012, and a brother Gary Loshman.
He is survived by his three children: Denise (Craig) Haupt of Sumner, Iowa; Lisa (Steve) Oberbroeckling of Sumner, Iowa; Steve (Gina) Loshman of Calumet, Iowa; 8 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
