DELORIS M. BROWN, 87, of Oto, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at BlackHawk Life Care Center in Lake View, Iowa.

Due to flooding and travel difficulties, graveside services will be held at a later date.  Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com.

Deloris Mae Edwards was born on December 14th, 1935, at home in Correctionville, Iowa.  She was the oldest and first born to Helen (Chase) and Ivan Edwards.  She grew up on a farm in a traditional farm family surrounded by her many siblings.

She was confirmed at the Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Quimby and received her education at the Quimby Community School.  In 1953, she married August Theodore Huck, Jr.  They were blessed with five children: Ted Huck and Tammy of Arvada, Colorado, Ivan Timothy Huck of Oto, Iowa, Theresa Fern Huck (deceased), Tami (Huck) and Ross Moeller of Lake View, Iowa, and Tina Huck of Carroll, Iowa.

From an early age, she worked on the farm alongside her parents and siblings.  Her strong work ethic helped her to weather many storms throughout her life.  She married Robert Myers in 1964, making the family home on a farm outside of Westside, Iowa.  She continued to work hard raising her children.  She worked at the Denison Country Club for many years tending bar.

In 1981, she married Harold Brown.  They made their home in Oto, Iowa, with the kids being grown up and  on their own, she worked at the Fireside in Anthon, Iowa.  She also worked at MCI in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa and Webers in Oto, Iowa.

During her free time, when it presented itself, she enjoyed watching football, gardening, fishing, and baking her famous homemade bread and rolls.  She also served a term on the Oto City Council.

She retired from work at the young age of 80.  After retirement, she spent the next 3 years at home in Colorado with her son, Ted and Tammy.  She traveled between Colorado and Denison for 3 more years, visiting Iowa and family members before settling into Black Hawk Life Care in Lake View, Iowa.  She met and made many friends at Black Hawk Life Care and always gave her smile and one liners freely.  What an exceptional giving place for her final years.

Deloris passed away on October 15, 2023.  She reached the age of 87 years, 10 months, and 1 day.

Deloris (Dee) was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold (Bud) Brown, brothers Mike Edwards, Dwayne (Butch) Edwards, sisters Donna, Lorna, and Debbie, daughter Theresa, grandson Kevin, and great grandchildren Autumn and Crayson.
