Demaris was a member of the St. Paul's United Methodist Church and U.M.W. Charity Circle. She was a beautiful Godly woman, one who loved and believed in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
"Mom was the classic american homemaker.....she simply was the best. Mom's quiet strength was one of her greatest assets, always listening without judging, and her unwavering faith in the Lord made her a pillar of our family. She loved my dad, always laughing together, enjoying each other throughout the hills and valleys of life. Their relationship was priceless. Thousands of home cooked meals passed through those loving hands, her kitchen was her home.....hospitality was her amazing God given gift! Always greeted with a warm smile, a cup of coffee and something to ruin your diet. Married for 69 years to the "catch" of her life!!! Her love, care and encouragement for others was contagious and will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her."
She loved to write letters to her family and friends. She enjoyed visiting her friends in the nursing homes and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband Wayne of Cherokee, Iowa; her three children and their families: Michael (Debra) Witcombe of Cherokee, Iowa and their daughter Michele (Steven) Hadley of Johnston, Iowa; Jim Witcombe and his children Vance and Kaylee Witcombe of Farmington, New Mexico; Alice (Alan) Breske of Lannon, Wisconsin and their children Austin Breske of Portland, Oregon and Allison Breske of Bellingham, Washington.
