DENNIS L. STEWART, 59, of rural Aurelia, Iowa passed away Friday evening, February 26, 2010 at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 2nd, at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia, Iowa. Pastor Missy Brown will officiate. Burial will be in the Cedar Cemetery at Larrabee, Iowa. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the church on Tuesday. Visitation will be on Monday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. with the family present from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Dennis was born November 14, 1950 Cherokee, Iowa to Floyd & Berniece (Amendt) Stewart. He graduated from Aurelia Community High School in 1969. He then attended Iowa State University. He had worked for Chicago Northwestern Railroad, worked construction and farmed on the family farm. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia, Iowa. Dennis enjoyed fishing, sightseeing and science. He had been a resident of Cherokee County most of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Berniece.

He is survived by one brother and one sister: Steve Stewart and his wife Priscella of Cherokee, Iowa; Sherry Stewart of West Des Moines, Iowa; aunts and uncles: Wayne & Betty Stewart of Larrabee, Iowa; Gerald & Alberta Dahnke of Hartley, Iowa; Gen Stewart of Fulda, Minnesota; Verniece Larson of Cherokee, Iowa; also numerous cousins.
