Obituary
DeVane R. Schmidt, 50, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away Thursday evening, July 25, 2013 at the Country Side Estates in Cherokee.
DeVane was born on February 17, 1963 at Alta, Iowa to Elmer & Lois (Husman) Stykel. He attended Cherokee Community Schools. He was married to Penny Hoeppner and to this union a daughter Cassie was born. He was a lifelong resident of Cherokee. DeVane worked as a handyman, doing carpentry and yard work over the years. He loved to go camping, fishing and spending time with family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his daughter: Cassie Schmidt of Cherokee, Iowa; three brothers: Rick (Ann) Schmidt of Cherokee, Iowa; Rodney Schmidt and special friend Deb Massey of Cherokee, Iowa; Todd (Lindi) Stykel of Cherokee, Iowa.
It was DeVane's wishes to be cremated and there be no services. The Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee is assisting the family with the arrangements. Online condolences can be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com
