DEVE K. (RITTER) KILLIAN, 82, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Thursday morning, July 16, 2015 in the Countryside Estates at Cherokee, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 22nd at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Carey Hetrick will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset View Cemetery at Washta, Iowa. with military rites by L.A. Wescott Post #2253 of the V.F.W. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home. Deve was born January 17, 1933 at Fielding, Iowa to Fred & Maudie (Orton) Ritter. She attended Washta Schools and graduated from Cherokee Wilson High School in 1951. She served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1952 til 1955 with the rank of Corporal. Deve was married to C. J. Harris III at Camp LeJune, North Carolina. She was later married to Joe B. Killian Jr. at Port Arthur, Texas. She had worked as a waitress and a C.N.A. for several years, retiring in 2000. She was affiliated with the Methodist Church and was a member of the V.F.W. Deve enjoyed crossword puzzles, traveling, being retired; she was proud to have served her country in the Marine Corps and loved being involved with the V.F.W. She had been a resident if Cherokee since 1988 and prior to this in Nederland, Texas and while she was in the marines lived in several areas of the United States.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joe Killian Jr., a son Randy Harris, two brothers Verl Ritter and Jerry Ritter, a sister and brother-in-law Leota & Ken Hohlier, a brother-in-law Merle Smith.

She is survived by her three children: Reg'ee (Gina) Harris of Cherokee, Iowa; Grant (Carla) Harris of Security, Colorado; Myron (Larasa) Harris of Cherokee, Iowa; a daughter-in-law: Cindy Harris of Peru, Indiana; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one brother and one sister: Evan (Dar) Ritter of Plano, Texas; Lois Smith of Aurelia, Iowa; two sisters-in-law: Twyla Ritter of Cherokee, Iowa; Carol Ritter and her husband Charles Studler of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
