One of Dianna’s wishes was that people came to her service dressed comfortably.

Dianna was born on September 18, 1946 to Arthur and Evelyn (Christensen) Eide in Yankton, South Dakota. They moved to Storm Lake so her dad could open up a Bomgaars Store. They moved to Cherokee in the middle of her junior year of high school and she graduated with the class of 1965. She moved to Sioux City, where she worked in a finance office and lived with a good friend, Monica Schleef. She met Terry Langholdt on New Year’s Eve 1967 and they were engaged one month and 9 days later. They were married on June 22, 1968 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee.

She was a stay at home mom devoting all her energy to her children and supporting her husband at his job at Fareway, which took them from Cherokee to Nevada, Decorah, Algona, LeMars, Creston, Sheldon, and finally back to Cherokee to a home just down the block from their first apartment as newlyweds.

When her youngest, Tricia started school she began subbing and then worked as a secretary at Roosevelt Elementary. When Garfield Elementary School closed, she began working as a paraeducator at Early Childhood Learning Center (ECLC) with the Cherokee Schools. She moved up through the grades as a 1 on 1 with multiple students, finally retiring in 2018 when her last student graduated.

She was raised Lutheran and joined the Catholic Church before getting married to Terry.

Her family was her whole world. She loved to take road trips to shop at Younkers with Terry. She attended activities for all her grandkids and even rode the tennis bus to cheer on the players when her daughter, Tricia, coached. She never missed a concert , dance recital or any program if she could help it. Holidays were always at her house with everyone gathered in the kitchen snacking on the relish tray while she cooked. She was a lover of animals and cherished her grandpuppies and loved the squirrels and rabbits in her yard and out on walks. She was a kind, generous soul who loved fiercely and never met a stranger. She could strike up a conversation with anyone. She loved to take “her boys” to get ice cream at Dairy Queen and then to play at the park because, ‘that’s what Grandma is for”. She loved chocolate chip cookies and always had snacks for her grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and soulmate Terry in 2019, mother-in-law and father-in-law Janet and Clarence Langholdt, brother and sister-in-law Richard and Ruby Eide, sister-in-law Mary Kaye Langholdt, brother-in-law Randy Langholdt, many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Dianna is survived by her three children, who will carry on her legacy, Angelia (Mike) Mayer of Marcus, Iowa, Chad (Jami) Langholdt of Sioux City, and Tricia (Joe) Vannatta of Cherokee, Iowa; 8 grandchildren Courtney, Kane, Trace, Alaina, Jadyn, Asher, Soren, and Felix; 7 great grands Nevaeh, Brielle, Zaiyden, Lydia, Dakota, and Layla; brothers-in-law Dennis Langholdt of Boone, Iowa, Rick (Dot) Langholdt of Iowa City, Iowa, sister-in-law Judy Langholdt of Arizona; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
