Obituary

DOLORES B. JENSEN, 83, of Quimby, Iowa passed away Saturday, June 5, 2010 at her home in Quimby.

Funeral services will held Tuesday, June 8th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Ethan Sayler will officiate. Burial will be in the Cherokee Memory Gardens.
There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home on Tuesday.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home with the family present from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. On line condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com

Dolores was born March 16, 1927 at Sioux City, Iowa to Arthur and Bernice (Coburn) Tveitnes. She was baptized in the Presbyterian Church. She attended schools in Sioux City, Correctionville, Los Angeles, Cherokee and Galva. She attended Iowa Central College and received a degree in Nursing. She was married to Ivan Woodard on July 3, 1943 Hastings, Nebraska. She was later married to David Jensen on April 23, 1948 Omaha, Nebraska. She had worked at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital from 1964 until 1966, Cherokee Mental Health Institute from 1966 until 1989, at Regis Inventory from 1992 until 1999 and had also worked at Caseys and Car Go Express, retiring in 1989. She had lived in Sioux City for 7 years, Correctionville for 2 years, a short time in Los Angeles, Cherokee from 1937 until 1972, Cleghorn from 1972 until 1990,Washta from 1990 until 2002 and in Quimby since 2002. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, cooking, genealogy, camping, working with Cub Scouts and Brownies and also time spent with her grandchildren. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband David on February 23, 2010, sons Fred Jensen in 1996, Russ Woodard in 2008, daughter Ivana Woodard in 2006, grandson Steven Jensen, and a half sister Jeanine Lofhdal in 1974.

She is survived by her children: Sandra (Delbert) Persoon of Storm Lake, Iowa; Terry Jensen of Topeka, Kansas; Jerrilyn (Dick) Knapp of Quimby, Iowa; Jerry (Cheryl) Jensen of Sutherland, Iowa; Dan (Faye) Jensen of Sioux City, Iowa; Dave (Jane) Jensen of Reading, Kansas; daughters-in-law LaVonne Woodard of Sun City West, Arizona; Diane Grant of New Brunswick, Canada; 27 grandchildren, 62 great grandchildren, 18 great great grandchildren; brothers Howard (Donna) Tveitnes of Cherokee, Iowa; Jerry (Mary Ann) Tveitnes of Columbia, Missouri; half brothers Tom Tveitnes of Santa Clara, California; Bill (Henri) Tveitnes of Santa Clara, California; two sisters-in-law: Katherine Palmer of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Helen (Burdell) Vohs of Battle Creek, Iowa.
